Since my first run for Arizona state legislature in 2018 I have championed the idea of lowering the cost of college for Arizona students. One of the ideas I explored was free 2 year community college for students in rural counties that graduated from high school in that county. I believe that a variety of programs and options should be available to students that will lead to more affordable college education.
Representative Nutt, (R-Clifton) whom I do not agree with on many issues, has proposed HB 2790 which amend state law that currently defines community colleges as only providing 2 year degrees to offer 4 year (BA) degrees. This is an outstanding idea that can accomplish many goals that I support.
